Well its been sometime I have blogged. Just not in the mood and a little lazy i guess to get back into the habit. I have taken a break from teaching before I get back to Singapore so I should be free. But the free time and my long holiday has made me think about what I want to do when I come back to Singapore. The easiest choice is to just join a government school and go back to teaching. However after teaching for 7 years I would like to try something different though and there lies my confusion. There are various options. Do I go to a govt school or an independent school? In an independent school there would be lots of growth professionally as the emphasis would be on research and facilitating students' growth. The pressure would come from high expectations. In a government school, its good that they have come up with 5 day week but I have heard that the working hours are long on weekdays. And also the pressure and stress of keeping up student's standards. My strength is in teaching - am not very good in CCAs. Then there is the question of whether I want to teach at seconday school, JC or poly. I was looking at some private schools and now I wonder whether I should go for that option instead( not much growth professionally as being a small firms chances for promotions are low) Right now I am doing training of the teachers at the school in Jakarta - its something new for me and I like it - unfortunately I feel that in Singapore not much chance as the market is saturated with trainers. So many options yet I am confused. And then there's the biggest headache of all - getting my CV done - how do you decide which are the best bits in a 7 year teaching career?
